What first intrigued me about the Gym on Locke was the location & atmosphere. The location has style and I was impressed by it's loft style atmosphere, the variety of high-end equipment and how clean it always is. The overall atmosphere is unlike any typical gym. I love to work out there. It feels as comfortable as working out in my own living room, and I have never experienced that at a gym before. When I started doing personal training, I quickly realized that this gym has so much more to offer than just a great atmosphere. The knowledge and experience of my trainer, the concern he had about my form, technique, nutrition, and his interest in me building a solid foundation was unlike any other trainer I had previously encountered. I have had 3 previous personal trainers and have been part of 4 different boot camp programs and a member at 3 different gyms, but I have never learned as much about weight training and proper nutrition as I have at the Gym on Locke. At the end of the day, I have found the Gym on Locke to be the best investment I have made in my quest to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. I am changing month after month, and I know I will reach my personal goal because I have the proper training and information that I need to get there. Gym On Locke

January 8, 2009…. I remember this date so clearly as it was my ‘rock bottom’ physically; I was tying up some boots, sitting hunched over on my front stairs, and I had to sit up ½ way through because I couldn’t breathe. I was at my all-time high weight-wise: 208 lbs! I had just celebrated my 50th birthday in October, and this was not how I wanted to feel!

Then along came The Gym on Locke! I lived in the neighbourhood and saw it was going to open soon, and would be open 24/7… perfect timing. So in March, 2009 I became a founding member of The Gym on Locke. I have never looked back, and I have never felt better! The staff at The Gym on Locke are always friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. I would never have attained my 55 lb. weight loss without their help. This started with Stefan, the owner, whose positive attitude made me feel welcome and motivated. He advised me to ‘invest in myself’ and consider working with a personal trainer; something I’d never thought I’d do, and I’m so grateful that I did. Pete challenges me every time I come to train, encourages me, and educates me, not solely on weight-training, but also on nutrition, a key factor to weight loss and maintenance.

Aside from offering a secured facility that is available for use 24/7, there are endless possibilities for working out – using the state-of-the-art equipment, that’s always well-maintained, or working with free-weights, or skipping rope, or participating in a boot camp or workshop … there is something for everyone. I also appreciate the fact that this is an ‘all-ages’ and ‘all shapes and sizes’ gym, where I don’t feel judged, but can confidently work-out and feel accomplished.

I can honestly say that becoming a member of The Gym on Locke has changed my life for the better; I feel stronger, more in control, and more confident as I continue to ‘invest in myself’. As an educator, I was amazed at the positive reaction my students had to my transformation, many of whom have come to me for advice on what they can do to achieve better health. Gym On Locke

We have been going to one or another gym regularly for the last 25 years. The Gym on Locke is by far the best gym ever! In the past, it was hard to find a gym that worked for us both in terms scheduling (the Gym on Locke is 24/7 –no more needs to be said) and also in terms of particular workout issues we faced due to aging, illness, and/or injury. As seniors at the Gym on Locke we are able to work with trainers who actually understand how bodies work – and particularly how bodies change through aging. Workouts are tailored to each of our specific needs. The place isn’t too big or impersonal. The machines are first rate and never have a line up, the staff are friendly and supportive.
